The Lightning Balls for overhand throwing are a fantastic tool for softball athletes to learn arm pathway, sequencing and understand where the arm is in space AND where the arm is in relation to the body!
Each training ball has a specific purpose to help improve arm strength, durability, patterning and velocity!
The green plyo Lightning Ball is 7oz (the same weight as regulation 12” softball). We use these to throw at normal and max effort speeds into a net, wall or fence. All drills can be performed with this ball, but we use this for our dynamic throwing and high-intent sessions!
This pink plyo Lightning Ball is a 9oz Ball (2 oz heavier than a softball) and it’s purpose is to throw normally, using our HLT Drills & Progressions! The slightly overload implement helps an athlete pattern the arm more efficiently but still allows them to maximize their effort! The pink plyo ball is one of our favorites as we use this the most in our daily throwing programs!
The heavier balls, blue plyo and black plyo Lightning Balls are used in our HLT drill progression to be thrown at lower speeds, focusing on patterning of the arm and sequencing the body. We CAN use them for max effort medicine ball slams, rotation slams, single leg slams OR scoop tosses to help build rotational power!
